HEPA filters and dust mites
The attack of the human skin eating microorganisms
The dust mites are microorganisms living on the dust particles and eating (mainly) the dead human skin (dead human skin creates approximately 70% of all the household dust).
They love warm and wet places so it is no surprise that you can often find them in mattresses, beds, linens, upholstery or carpets.
Each one gram of the mattress dust can contain 5-15 thousands burly mites.
Vaccum cleaners vs. dust mites
To get rid of the dust mites, you actually do not need the vaccum cleaner with the HEPA filter. Each vacuum cleaner bag separates and captures these giant microorganisms quite well as their standard dimensions range from 0,1 to 0,5 milimetres.
The dust mite allergies are caused by the dust mite excrements
The problem is that each dust mite lives long enough (up to 15 weeks) to produce even 300 times more excrements than their body weight. These droppings are much smaller than the mites themselves, they create an inseparable part of the inhouse air and being inhaled constantly the represent probably the most common trigger of human perennial allergies.
And here comes the super HE(PA)RO
The excrements (as well as any other microscopic particles causing allergic problems) can be separated by microfilters or multi-layer HEPA filters. The bed of an allergic person should be cleaned with the vacuum with the HEPA filter as often as possible.
It also helps to kill the living dust mites, if you wash your beddings setting the whasing machine temperature so that it exceeds 60 Celsius grades or if you leave the bedding outside during the freezy day (it is necessary to keep it there for at least couple of hours as quality quilts accumulate the heat very well and hold the temperature for a long time).
People with dust mite allergy also mustn´t use bedding filled with wool or feather regardles of how comfortable such bedding is, rather they should choose the less comfortable bedding filled with polyester fibres or other synthetic material that the dust mites don´t like very much.
